Roshan was raised in a famous musical family, which for a number of generations has produced leading performers of classical Indian music. His Guru and father, Jamaluddin Bhartiya, began teaching Roshan as a young boy, and as a teenager Roshan began performing in concert settings. Roshan has since toured the globe many times, and for the last 40 years has performed and recorded with many of India’s most renowned artists. He is known for his deeply emotional and joyous presence. The blending of playfulness with his powerful knowledge of classical Indian music makes his concerts a memorable experience for educated listeners and newcomers alike.
Andy Skellenger is a professional multi-instrumentalist and drum maker based in Crestone Colorado. He specializes in the advanced hand percussion instrument of North India called Tabla. Since 2000, he has devoted himself wholeheartedly to the study of North Indian classical tabla music, as taught to him by his teachers Maestro Aloke Dutta, and Pandit Samir Chatterjee, both of Calcutta. He also plays the harp like instrumentfrom Mali, called Kora, as well as drum set, cajon, a multitude of other percussion instruments from around the world. Andy performs regularly with a variety of ensembles in many different styles and genres, and solo as well. Some of the musicians Andy has performed alongside include Tabla Maestro Samir Chatterjee, DJ Cheb i Sabbah, vocalist Beth Quist, violinist Kailin Yong, denver jazz legends Ron Miles and Greg Harris, and of course sitar maestro Ustad Roshan Bhartiya.
